The Age Good Food Guide 2010
David’s is a beautifully elegant restaurant and while it delivers an ambience of intimacy, it still manages to keep its traditional feel. One could easily be mistaken, when considering David’s for their dining destination, that the menu is priced in the same manner that the restaurant appears, this however is certainly not the case, David’s is moderately priced and yet delivers some of Melbourne’s most exquisite cuisine.
David's is only one of two currently "hatted" Chinese restaurants in Melbourne. There are currently no "hatted" Chinese restaurants in Sydney.
Tea entrepreneur, David Zhou originally from Shanghai, China, is the founder of the very successful "David’s" Restaurant and is also the managing director of "The Oriental Tea House" restaurants. The Oriental Tea House
The business started with a small tea shop on Chapel Street in Prahran about 15 years ago that sold tea blends created by David Zhou. With the Australian public taking a keen interest in David’s unique blends, David decided the next logical step was to introduce traditional Shanghai cuisine and naturally, David’s was formed.
